Our client is a vegetable bulk commodity trader and sea vessel logistics operator and owner. We procure our commodities (corn, soybeans, wheat, barley, etc..) from world-wide origins such as Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Expert in Operations to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the maritime industry, including stakeholder management, chartering, ship brokerage, and voyage-based calculations. This role requires expertise in time-based chartering and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including chartering companies, ship brokers, and agents.
Key Responsibilities:
· Stakeholder Management: Engage and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including chartering companies, ship brokers, and agents, to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
· Chartering Coordination: Oversee the chartering process, from initial negotiations to finalizing agreements. Ensure optimal utilization of vessels through effective time-based and voyage-based chartering strategies.
· Voyage-Based Calculations: Conduct detailed voyage-based calculations, including fuel consumption, cargo handling, and port charges, to ensure accurate cost assessments and efficient voyage planning.
· Time-Based Chartering: Manage time-based chartering arrangements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and optimizing vessel schedules to meet operational requirements.
· Operational Excellence: Develop and implement operational procedures and strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
· Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to coordinate operations, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with company objectives.
· Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in operations within the maritime or shipping industry, with a focus on chartering, brokerage, and voyage management.
· Proven track record of managing stakeholder relationships and negotiating chartering agreements.
· Strong analytical skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
· Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools.
