·   3-5 years’ shipping and logistics experience in the same role


·   Knowledge of carriers, agents, accounts and preparation of shipping and operation procedures


·   Time-management and multi-tasking skills.

GAC Abu Dhabi is looking for candidates for the role of Operations Coordinator – Air Freight with Customs and Freight- Air, to be based in Abu Dhabi. Could it be you?


Job Description


The job supports the business in delivering customer service excellence by ensuring the timely and efficient processing of all the C & F import and export shipments, leading the team and communicating with shipping lines, terminals and authorities.


Job Responsibilities


  1.       Ensure smooth operations


Open GAC Freight files, prepare manifest, update correction notice, upload EDI to ADT/DHABI, send manifest to terminals/customs, notify consignee as per B/L/manifest or principals’ instructions, send reminder. Handle CAN for Dangerous, IMCO, refer, direct delivery. Notify parties 7 days before vessel arrival, follow-up, and attend calls in accordance with GAC etiquette.


2.       Job Closure and invoicing


Ensure accurate details and completion of jobs opened on GAC Freight by following the process in full and holding responsibility for approval of supplier invoices and closing related jobs.


3.       Cash handling


Issue delivery orders with OBL/endorsement/ID verification, confirm OBL status, collect freight and charges per principles and GAC/Abu Dhabi tariff, handle cash, invoice NYK credit after vessel arrival, and settle daily collections with accounts.


4.       Reporting


Communicate with overseas partners, prepare NYK inbound/outbound reports, update NYK IEM container movements, and ensure correction notices (freight, cargo, consignee) are updated in all files, GF2, and required management reports


5.       Ensure timely operation process


Prepare and send discharge/load lists to terminal, agent and feeder operator. Manage full/empty container control, report stock and long-detained containers to NYK. Return empty containers to JEA, verify port invoices, and resolve discrepancies with accounts/terminal.


6.       Forward sales leads to concerned departments


Market intelligence- gather sales leads from cargo manifest, DO counter, CFS & local market and forward to concerned departments.


7.       Generate business growth


Increase business & profits for the department by securing future businesses.


8.       Ensure operation completion


Release empty container for export stuffing, schedule export vessels, issue B/L, update & forward pre-alert to discharge port agents, collect freight and send stripping letter to container terminal for console shipment. Forward manifest to tally clerk & terminal. Inform the load port agent if cargo landed short or damaged.       


9.       Collaboration with all departments


Maintain close cooperation with all departments.
