Job Description

Head of Construction – Oil & Gas (EPC)


Location: GCC

Industry: Oil & Gas (EPC)


Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Construction to lead the pre-construction, FEED, and execution methodology for large-scale Oil & Gas EPC projects in the GCC. This role is responsible for developing construction strategies, optimizing execution plans, and ensuring constructability during the early project phases, as well as overseeing site execution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction planning, modularization strategies, site logistics, and ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in large-scale EPC projects.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Pre-Construction & FEED Stage

  • Lead constructability reviews during FEED and early engineering to optimize project execution.
  • Develop construction execution strategies, including modularization, pre-fabrication, and workface planning.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to align design with construction feasibility.
  • Define temporary facilities, logistics, and infrastructure requirements for site execution.
  • Provide input on contracting strategy, work packaging, and construction sequencing.

2. Construction Execution Planning

  • Establish and implement the Construction Execution Plan (CEP).
  • Define method statements, work breakdown structures (WBS), and productivity benchmarks.
  • Develop site resource planning, labor strategies, and mobilization schedules.
  • Ensure integration of HSE best practices and risk assessments into execution planning.

3. Site Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee site operations to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-driven construction execution.
  • Monitor construction progress, addressing bottlenecks, and resolving site challenges.
  • Lead interface management between engineering, procurement, subcontractors, and construction teams.
  • Ensure strict compliance with EPC contract requirements, technical specifications, and client expectations.

4. Risk & Change Management

  • Identify and mitigate construction risks, including schedule delays, cost overruns, and safety concerns.
  • Manage change orders, claims, and contract variations in coordination with project teams.
  • Implement lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives for future projects.


Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience:20+ years in Oil & Gas EPC construction management.
  • Expertise in pre-construction planning, FEED, and execution methodology.
  • Strong knowledge of onshore and offshore construction, modularization, and heavy lifting techniques.
  • Skills:Leadership in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural site environments.
  • Proficiency in constructability reviews, workface planning, and advanced construction techniques.
  • Strong command of HSE, QA/QC, and EPC project execution frameworks.
