About the job MEP QUANTITY SURVEYOR
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
As a MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. The role includes evaluating MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) works in terms of costs, contracts, procurement, and project management. The ideal candidate should possess experience in post-contract management, valuations, cost estimation, and contract administration, specifically related to MEP services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP systems and components.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of budget proposals for the project lifecycle.
- Analyze project costs, maintain updated cost databases, and report potential risks and savings.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements for MEP works.
- Prepare interim valuations and final accounts, ensuring accuracy in measurements and valuations.
- Price variations and monitor cost impacts on project progress.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for MEP works based on drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
- Assist with subcontractor and supplier selection, tendering processes, and negotiations.
- Review and analyze tender submissions, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Review and manage all contract documents, including variations, extensions, and claims related to MEP works.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations by both the company and the client.
- Prepare and issue payment applications, monitor invoicing, and payment processes.
- Coordinate with project teams (engineers, designers, and contractors) to ensure seamless integration of MEP works.
- Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants on MEP-related issues.
- Provide financial and contractual support to the project team to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
- Monitor project progress to ensure costs align with budgets and forecasts.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments to senior management.
- Identify and track potential cost overruns, variations, and manage changes effectively.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor.
- Proficient in cost estimation, valuation, and contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, standards, and construction processes.
- Familiarity with contract forms like FIDIC and standard methods of measurement (e.g., CESMM, SMM7).
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Plan swift).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
