Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Procurement Officer to manage and oversee all procurement activities related to medical supplies, equipment, and services. The successful candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a thorough understanding of the healthcare industry, and the ability to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that medical staff have access to the supplies and equipment they need to deliver high-quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities: Procurement Strategy and Planning:

Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost-effectiveness while ensuring the quality and availability of medical supplies and equipment.


Regularly assess the market for new suppliers, technologies, and industry trends, making recommendations to improve procurement processes and maintain competitiveness.


Supplier Management:

Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.


Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent quality, reliable service, and timely deliveries.


Manage and resolve any issues related to supplier performance, quality, or service delivery.


Inventory and Demand Forecasting:

Collaborate with medical staff and departments to assess their needs and preferences for medical supplies and equipment.


Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and work with stakeholders to prevent shortages, delays, or overstocking of items.


Implement and oversee inventory control measures to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.


Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure that procurement activities comply with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.


Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, vendor contracts, and expenses.


Generate reports on procurement performance, expenses, and inventory status as required by management.


Continuous Improvement:

Stay up-to-date with advancements in medical technologies, products, and industry regulations to make informed procurement decisions.


Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.


Experience: Proven experience in procurement, with at least 3 years of experience in the healthcare sector or a related industry.


Skills:


Knowledge of medical supplies, equipment, and healthcare industry standards.


Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.


Proficiency in procurement software, Microsoft Office Suite, and supply chain management tools.


Strong analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions under pressure.


Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.


Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including clinical staff, finance, and external vendors.


Working Conditions:

Location: Based in a healthcare facility with some potential travel for vendor meetings and site assessments.


Hours: Full-time, with flexibility required to meet deadlines and address procurement challenges.
