To perform routine molecular biology tests in laboratory in accordance with professional and regulatory requirements and guidelines

Perform routine molecular biology tests according to professional standards and guidelines

Extract denature and purify DNA/RNA from various specimen types

PCR reagent Mastermix preparation and dispensing extracted RNA or DNA

Perform RTPCR and PCR tests, including QC and related maintenance responsibilities for molecular biology analyser

Result analysis

Contribute to relevant quality improvement initiatives aimed at mitigating risks, compliance governance and increased patient safety

Actively contribute and guide, where needed, relevant training and health and safety initiatives

Operate, calibrate, and monitor effective functioning of standard laboratory equipment that includes analysers and maintenance of temperature logs

A relevant Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory sciences or a related field

ASCP or ASCPi in molecular biology is preferred

At least 3-5 years' full time experience in Molecular Biology

• Governance and accreditation standards relevant to laboratory services
• Laboratory information systems and reporting
• Laboratory terminologies as applied in the specific and related area of specialisation
• Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Verbal and written communication skills in English
