Job Description
The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating mechanical works on fitout projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and project schedules. The role involves supervising site teams, coordinating with subcontractors, and liaising with project engineers and site managers.
Key Responsibilities:Site Supervision & Execution:- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and testing of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and other mechanical services in fitout projects.
- Ensure all mechanical works are carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Allocate tasks to site workers and subcontractors, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor daily site activities and provide progress updates to project managers.
- Conduct quality checks and inspections to ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
Coordination & Communication:- Coordinate with other trades (electrical, civil, architectural) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Liaise with project engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth workflow.
- Attend site meetings and provide input on mechanical work progress and challenges.
Health & Safety Compliance:- Enforce health and safety policies on-site to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for site workers.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with local safety regulations and company HSE policies.
Material & Resource Management:- Plan and request required materials, tools, and equipment in advance to avoid project delays.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of materials to minimize wastage.
- Maintain site records, including work progress, material usage, and daily reports.
Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:- Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during mechanical installation.
- Provide guidance and technical support to the workforce.
- Report major site challenges and propose solutions to project engineers or management.
Qualifications & Requirements:- Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 yrs of experience in mechanical works, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within the fitout industry.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to mechanical works.
- Proficiency in using MS Office and reporting tools.
