Job Description

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Relevant certifications and licenses in electrical work.
  • Commissioning and sea trial experience of new build vessel (minimum 5 vessels commissioning).
  • Hands-on experience in electrical, instrumentation and communication systems for different type of ships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficient.
  • Proficient in PMP and other maintenance systems/platform.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in electrical work within shipbuilding yards.
  • Proven experience in electrical installation, commissioning and sea trials, with at least 5 new build vessels.
  • Mandatory experience with Dynamic Positioning (DP) vessels new build & conversion.

GAC Marine operates from our fully equipped marine base in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Our comprehensive offshore marine support includes anchor handling, project cargo transportation, platform supply, crew changes and supplies, as well as rig moves and tug & barge operations. Operations are supported by our growing fleet of anchor handling tug supply vessels, anchor handling tugs, crew boats, tow tugs, barges, utility vessels and landing craft.


Our expert crew, maintenance and other land-based staff are at hand to facilitate short turn-around times for class surveys, repairs, and maintenance.


GAC Marine is looking for the right people to join the team at our Abu Dhabi marine base, in several Marine Lead Electrician roles. The successful candidates will oversee and manage electrical installation and commissioning processes for new build vessels in the shipyard.


Job Description


  • Oversee all electrical installation work on new build vessels. Ensure that installations meet project specifications and industry standards. Guarantee the safety, functionality and compliance of electrical systems.
  • Lead the commissioning of electrical systems and conduct sea trials. Ensure that all systems are operational and meet performance criteria on at least 5 new build vessels. Validate the reliability and efficiency of the vessels’ electrical systems before delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor junior electricians. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. Promote a skilled workforce and maintain high safety levels on site.
  • Work closely with engineering and project management teams to resolve technical issues. Foster effective problem-solving and project execution. Ensure that any potential challenges are addressed promptly, maintaining project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports on project progress and electrical systems. Ensure all records are complete and compliant with regulatory requirements. Provide reliable reference for audits, future projects and compliance checks.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with IMO, flag state, Classification society (BV), industry regulations and standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of electrical installations and systems. Ensure work meets high standards and specifications. Minimize defects, enhance safety, and improve overall vessel performance
