Job Description

Purpose of the Role

EIA is the sole custodian of the wealth of the federal government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Authority owns stakes in UAE-based companies and manages a globally diversified fund. Its mandate is to protect and grow the wealth of the federal government of the UAE.


This role encompasses responsibilities across fund investments, secondaries, co-investments, and portfolio management in the private equity, infrastructure, and natural resources asset classes. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in private equity, infrastructure investments, with exposure to manager selection, direct investments, and co-investments.


The candidate will be engaged in the full investment cycle, including sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and structuring investments.


The candidate will also prepare recommendations for various committees, including the Pre-Screening Committee, Investment Committee and Executive Committee. Success in this role requires advanced financial modeling skills, strategic thinking, strong relationship management, and the ability to oversee projects from due diligence to closing. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate robust portfolio monitoring and reporting capabilities.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities


  • Assist in the development and approval of asset class investment strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Research market trends, identify investment theses, and build a robust pipeline of opportunities.

Core Responsibilities


Fund and Co-Investment Selection and Execution


  • Source, evaluate, and perform due diligence on private equity fund managers and direct co-investment opportunities.
  • Lead multi-criteria risk-return analyses, including industrial sector dynamics, financials, competition, and valuation.
  • Develop advanced financial models (e.g., P&L, cash flow, and sensitivity analyses) to assess investment viability.
  • Prepare investment proposals and memorandums for presentation to various committees, including the Pre-Screening, Investment, and Executive Committees.
  • Negotiate legal and business terms for investments, coordinating with internal teams (e.g. Risk Management, Legal, Operations) and external advisors during the due diligence and closing processes.

Portfolio Management


  • Monitor performance and financial health of portfolio companies and fund investments.
  • Review periodic reports, financial statements, and board materials from portfolio companies and fund managers.
  • Build and maintain fair market value models for holdings, offering valuation methodology recommendations.
  • Collaborate with financial operations to ensure accurate accounting and performance reporting.
  • Track capital calls, distributions, and allocation of returns.
  • Stay informed on global trends, macroeconomic developments, and sector-specific dynamics to refine strategies.

Stakeholder Management


  • Maintain and grow a database of relevant fund managers and co-investment opportunities.
  • Ensure primary managers provide co-investment deal flow and promptly refer opportunities to the broader private equity team.
  • Build and sustain relationships with external business partners, senior management teams, and government representatives.

People Management Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance and support to UAE nationals, participating in recruitment and talent development activities.
  • Oversee third-party service providers to ensure high-quality support.
  • Represent the organization in fostering partnerships that drive performance and growth.
