Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for PACS implementations or upgrades.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with radiologists, IT teams, clinicians, administrators, and vendors to define project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational needs.
Implementation Oversight: Manage the end-to-end deployment of PACS solutions, including hardware installation, software configuration, and integration with systems like EHR (Electronic Health Records) and RIS (Radiology Information Systems) and regional HIE platforms.
Team Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary project teams, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and resolving conflicts to keep the project on track.
Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for PACS vendors, negotiating contracts, managing deliverables, and ensuring vendor support meets project milestones.
Testing & Validation: Coordinate system testing, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure the PACS meets performance, security, and usability standards.
Training & Change Management: Develop and oversee training programs for end-users and support staff, while managing change processes to facilitate smooth adoption of the new system.
Budget Management: Monitor project expenditures, ensuring costs stay within approved budgets and justifying variances as needed.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure all project activities comply with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and industry standards (e.g., DICOM, HL7).
Post-Implementation Support: Facilitate the transition to operational teams, document lessons learned, and provide initial post-launch support to address issues.
System Administration: Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the PACS infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and network integrations.
Image Management: Ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and distribution of medical images (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, CT scans) while maintaining image quality and data security.
Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support to radiologists, clinicians, and IT staff, resolving system issues and minimizing downtime.
Integration: Collaborate with IT teams to integrate PACS with other systems such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and imaging modalities.
Upgrades & Maintenance: Plan and implement software updates, patches, and system upgrades to enhance performance and security.
Training: Develop and deliver training programs for end-users, including radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff, to ensure effective use of the PACS.
Compliance: Ensure the PACS adheres to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, as well as organizational policies regarding data privacy and security.
Vendor Coordination: Liaise with PACS vendors for support, troubleshooting, and procurement of hardware/software solutions.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, analyze usage metrics, and recommend improvements to optimize workflow efficiency.
Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup protocols and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical imaging data.
