Job Description
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the maintenance activities in a manufacturing plant to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support production efficiency. This role involves supervising a team of maintenance technicians, scheduling preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and train a team of maintenance technicians.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance programs.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure quick resolution.
- Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Promote adherence to plant policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols.
Operational Efficiency:
- Analyze equipment performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to address equipment-related issues affecting product quality.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
- Review and approve service contracts and purchase orders related to maintenance.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment manuals, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for audits and inspections.
Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance-related software.
- Certification in Maintenance Management or relevant technical certifications (e.g., HVAC, PLC) is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery noise and operational hazards.
- May require occasional lifting of heavy equipment or parts.
- Availability for on-call support during emergencies or critical breakdowns.
