Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Library Management:
+ Assist in the day-to-day operation of the library, ensuring resources are accessible, organized, and well-maintained.
+ Help shelve, label, and organize books, digital media, and other resources according to library classification systems.
+ Monitor library inventory and assist with cataloging new materials and resources.
Student Support:
+ Assist students in locating and checking out books and other resources.
+ Provide guidance to students on proper use of library resources and technology.
+ Help students with research, reading recommendations, and book selection.
Technology Support:
+ Help students and staff use library computers, online catalog systems, and educational software.
+ Troubleshoot basic tech issues related to library equipment (computers, printers, etc.) or digital resources.
Library Programs & Events:
+ Support library programs such as book fairs, author visits, reading challenges, and other literacy events.
+ Assist with coordinating library displays, posters, and bulletin boards related to literacy and school-wide themes.
Clerical and Administrative Tasks:
+ Assist with maintaining accurate records of books checked in and out, overdue materials, and library fines.
+ Answer phones, respond to emails, and provide general administrative support as needed.
Collaboration:
+ Work closely with teachers and other school staff to support classroom instruction and projects by providing access to relevant materials.
+ Support the librarian in the implementation of educational programs, curriculum integration, and promoting reading.

Skills



Strong organizational and time-management skills. Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Basic computer skills and familiarity with library cataloging systems. Knowledge of books, authors, and children’s literature is beneficial. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
