As a professional in your role, your responsibilities and essential job functions will include but are not limited to:
- Sort, wash, dry, and fold hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry.
- Operate laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, and presses.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laundry room and equipment area.
- Ensure laundry is handled according to hotel standards for quality and cleanliness.
- Perform basic tailoring and garment alterations for hotel guests (e.g., hem adjustments, button replacements, minor repairs).
- Inspect guests' clothing for damage and determine whether it can be repaired or needs to be replaced.
- Press and steam garments to ensure they meet guest expectations.
- Maintain an inventory of necessary tailoring supplies (e.g., thread, buttons, needles, etc.).
- Provide personalized laundry services and handle any special laundry requests from guests.
- Respond to guests' inquiries regarding garment care, alterations, or laundry-related issues.
- Handle guest laundry items with care, ensuring privacy and security.
- Accurately label and track guest laundry items.
- Maintain records of garments sent for alterations, ensuring timely delivery to guests.
- Ensure all laundry and tailoring equipment is maintained and used according to safety guidelines.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the supervisor.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols in the laundry area.
Ideally, you should possess some or all the following qualifications and experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training in tailoring or garment alterations is a plus.
- Previous experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Proven experience in basic tailoring and garment repairs.
- Knowledge of different fabrics and proper care methods.
- Ability to perform minor alterations and repairs on a variety of clothing.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality garment presentation.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Basic math skills for tracking and recording items.
- Strong communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy laundry items.
- Comfortable working with laundry machinery and handling chemicals used in the laundry process.
- Good manual dexterity for tailoring and fabric repairs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A professional and friendly demeanor when dealing with guests.
