Overview of the Role:


The purpose of this role is to undertake non-interpretative processing of clinical samples. Support the pathology team to meet targets and assist in the day-to-day demands of the department. The post holder is required to rotate across administrative and clinical based functions.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and highlight any urgent results as per procedure guidelines.
  • Prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing and maintain clinical records.
  • Utilise a range of IT systems to manage clinical records. 
  • Manage enquiries efficiently, and escalate to the team leader if required.
  • Take responsibility for the disposal of clinical and sensitive samples and chemical waste, including sharps bins.
  • Ensure that all technical standards, policies and procedures are maintained, and escalate any concerns.
  • Maintain professional standards and quality control procedures to ensure safe and efficient practice.
  • Work with the pathology and laboratory team to implement techniques devised from evidence based practice and clinical guidelines.

What Qualifies You for the Role:


  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Laboratory Technician
  • Current DHA Licence
