Job Description

We are looking to hire an experienced Kindergarten Teacher (KG) Head/Head of KG & elementary (ADEK Approved) for a reputable School in Al Ain.The Head of Kindergarten & Elementary School will be responsible for the leadership, management, and academic oversight of both the Kindergarten and Elementary divisions. This role requires a strong, visionary leader who is committed to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment for young learners, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and managing a diverse team of educators. The Head of KG & Elementary will collaborate closely with the school leadership team, teachers, parents, and students to deliver a cohesive educational experience that meets the developmental needs of children from ages [3-12].

Responsibilities:


Leadership & Strategic Direction:
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Kindergarten and Elementary divisions, setting clear goals and ensuring the alignment of educational practices with the school’s vision and values.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence across both divisions.
  • Lead, support, and mentor a team of teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and professional development of staff within both divisions, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Foster strong communication and cooperation between the KG, Elementary, and other school divisions to ensure a smooth transition between grades and continuity in learning.
Curriculum & Instructional Leadership:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a robust, age-appropriate curriculum for both the Kindergarten and Elementary divisions that encourages inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and creativity.
  • Ensure the curriculum aligns with national or international education standards and incorporates best practices in early childhood and primary education.
  • Guide teachers in the implementation of effective instructional strategies, differentiated learning, and assessment techniques to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods and student progress, ensuring high academic standards and a focus on individual student growth.
  • Foster an environment that values and promotes social-emotional learning, cultural diversity, and global citizenship.
Student Development & Well-Being:
  • Ensure a focus on the holistic development of students, including their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being.
  • Work closely with the school’s counseling team, special education staff, and other specialists to provide support for students with varying learning needs and abilities.
  • Implement programs and initiatives that promote positive behavior, emotional regulation, and peer relationships in both KG and Elementary settings.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students, creating a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture.
Parent and Community Engagement:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding the educational development, behavior, and well-being of students in the Kindergarten and Elementary divisions.
  • Foster strong relationships with parents, engaging them through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and school events.
  • Encourage parent involvement and support, providing resources and opportunities for parents to be engaged in their children’s learning and development.
  • Represent the school at community events and in outreach activities to enhance the school’s presence and build positive relationships with the local community.
Administrative & Operational Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Kindergarten and Elementary divisions, ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Manage the division’s budget, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources for educational materials, staff development, and other program needs.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and use of facilities and materials, ensuring they meet safety standards and enhance the learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and developmental progress, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to parents and school leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all local educational regulations, health and safety standards, and school policies.
Assessment & Reporting:
  • Establish systems for monitoring and assessing student performance, both academically and socially, using a variety of assessment tools and methods.
  • Work with teachers to analyze assessment data, identify trends, and adjust teaching practices to support student achievement.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on the progress and performance of the KG and Elementary divisions to the school leadership team.
  • Provide guidance to teachers on creating and maintaining student portfolios and conducting parent meetings to review student progress.

RequirementsRequirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) with a focus on Early Years or Primary Education.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience in early years or primary education.
  • At least 3 years of management experience in an educational setting, with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Western-trained candidates preferred, with a strong understanding of international teaching standards and practices.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
  • Experience with the US curriculum and an understanding of its structure and assessment methods.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern pedagogy and contemporary teaching strategies for young learners.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, with the ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams of educators.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.0 or higher (or an equivalent qualification) to demonstrate English proficiency.
  • Relevant, valid teaching licenses as required by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
  • Advanced proficiency in the language of instruction as per the school’s curriculum.
