Who we are looking for


We are looking for an energetic professional to be an Strategist in the SSGA Investment Solutions Group (ISG) and our Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) business.  Based in Dubai, the OCIO Investment Strategist will serve in an investment advisory capacity for OCIO clients in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).  The Investment Strategist role is part of State Street Global Advisors’ Investment Solutions Group (“ISG”), a global multi-asset class solutions team.


The Investment Strategist will be primarily responsible for working directly with clients in formulating their overall strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment policy statement design, risk framework and supporting governance structure.   As a strategist, you will collaborate with our broader OCIO team who provide manager selection recommendations (in public and private markets), and our trading and portfolio management team. In a client facing capacity you will partner with our OCIO relationship managers and interface regularly with client investment committees and staff as part of the overall investment portfolio and performance review.  


This position reports to the managing director, Head of OCIO Investment Strategy – Investment Solutions Group.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record delivering holistic investment solutions as an OCIO provider, investment consultant, wealth advisor, or asset owner.


Why this role is important to us


This role will contribute to SSGA’s strategic priority to expand in the Middle East and a key part of SSGA’s Investment Solutions Group (“ISG”) and OCIO offering in the region.  An important part of the Investment Strategist role is to support and help drive new business activity, as a subject matter expert, in collaboration with our business development team.  In addition to OCIO, ISG’s offerings include asset-liability modeling/spending analysis, asset allocation, model portfolios, open-architecture manager research, portfolio rebalancing, liquidity management, exposure management, and multi-asset class product offerings.

  • Familiarity with the needs of asset owners, official institutions, pensions, financial institutions and wealth advisors in the Middle East and Africa


  • Knowledge of global capital markets, multi-class asset allocation, and supporting modeling


  • Experience in setting investment strategy to meet risk/return objectives, liabilities or spending requirements and client specific return objectives in an advisory/consultative capacity


  • Local insights on investment governance, restrictions, and regulatory considerations


  • Build positive relationships with key internal stakeholders


  • A problem solver and trouble-shooter, with the ability to identify and analyze issues with the creativity and energy to solve them


  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written and presentation; ability to effectively communicate recommendations to investment committees and boards as well as demonstrated ability to influence outcomes


  • Demonstrate initiative and work collaboratively and aptitude to self-direct


  • Thrives in business building environment with changing priorities


  • Highly organized, meets deadlines, with a strong attention to detail


  • Self-motivated individual with intellectual curiosity, high energy level, strong work ethic and demonstrated personal and professional integrity


  • Appreciation of the importance of risk excellence when representing a global financial services firm in emerging markets


  • Maintain the highest possible fiduciary standards and ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements


  • CFA/CAIA preferred
