Job Description
- Supervise a team of duct installers and technicians to ensure proper installation and maintenance of HVAC duct systems.
- Assign daily tasks to team members and monitor their work progress to ensure it aligns with project timelines.
- Provide guidance and training to team members on installation techniques and safety practices.
- Oversee the installation of HVAC ductwork, including sheet metal ducting, insulated ducting, and flexible ducting.
- Ensure all ductwork is installed according to design specifications, blueprints, and industry standards (e.g., SMACNA guidelines).
- Ensure that ducting is aligned, sealed, and supported properly to ensure optimal airflow and energy efficiency.
- Conduct inspections of installed ducting to ensure proper fitment, alignment, and sealing.
- Identify and rectify any defects, air leaks, or other issues that could impact system performance.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, following the company’s quality control procedures.
- Coordinate with site engineers, HVAC supervisors, and other trades (e.g., electrical and mechanical teams) to ensure smooth installation of HVAC systems.
- Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and management to resolve any technical or scheduling issues.
- Attend site meetings and provide progress updates to the project manager or HVAC supervisor.
- Ensure all HVAC ducting activities comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, including the use of proper PPE and safe working practices.
- Conduct risk assessments before starting work and ensure that all safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Identify potential hazards related to HVAC duct installation and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Diagnose issues with HVAC duct systems, such as blockages, improper airflow, or system leaks, and develop solutions to resolve them.
- Provide technical support to the installation team for troubleshooting and resolving on-site issues.
- Manage the inventory of ducting materials, fittings, and tools to ensure availability for ongoing work.
- Prepare material requests for ductwork installation and ensure that all necessary materials are available on-site.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate records of ductwork installation, including daily work reports, material usage, and site progress.
- Report any delays, challenges, or deviations from the project plan to the HVAC supervisor or project manager.
- Prepare and submit timesheets and attendance records for the HVAC ducting team.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Technical Certification in HVAC, Mechanical, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in HVAC ductwork installation, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficient in various HVAC ducting systems, including sheet metal, insulated, and flexible ducts.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in HVAC installation and safety are an advantage.
- HSE Knowledge: Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry.
- Languages: Proficiency in English
