Job Description

Role: Head of WBG, Treasury and International Banking Portfolio Transformation
Location: Abu Dhabi
Role Purpose:
The Head of WBG, Treasury & International Banking Portfolio Transformation is responsible to drive and govern project execution across the WBG, Treasury & International Banking Portfolio and ensure that the initiatives are delivering the objectives and committed financial & non-financial benefits.


He/ She is also responsible in ensuring that project prioritization is aligned with the Strategy and vision which is in-turn linked to bank’s overall strategy. The person is also responsible for end-to-end portfolio governance in a standardized manner.


The head of WBG, Treasury & International Banking Portfolio Transformation works with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and monitor the impact of transformation projects that aim to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation of the organization
    
Key Accountabilities of the role      
Strategy Development and Portfolio Prioritization: 


  • Ensure and work with WBG, Treasury and International Business, and Technology to define & prioritize the initiative roadmap in line with the overall strategy of the group 
  • Develop a comprehensive prioritization framework in line with the bank's overall business objectives.
  • Identify key customer segments and define strategies to address their needs and preferences.
  • Become a trusted advisor to the senior management team including the Group Heads 
  • Collaborate with senior management to establish initiative goals and KPIs.
  • Lead the team to deliver on goals associated with each initiative
  • Measure and report on the outcomes and benefits of solutions implemented and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement

Portfolio Management: 


  • Facilitates among the stakeholders and organizational leadership a consensus around the mission and vision of the transformation office to foster an agile oriented mindset while building product and project-oriented capabilities aligned to value delivery. 
  • Engages senior leadership and business partners to define the goals and operating model for WBG, Treasury & International Banking Portfolio 
  • Lead efforts to analyze and optimize our WBG, Treasury & International Banking portfolio, including store formats, locations, and product offerings, to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Leads the identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, and standards to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery.
  • Facilitates the agreed-upon process that develops plans and prioritization by leadership and governance.
  • Coaching the junior members of the team and Engagement with all the other stakeholders
  • Instill a learning culture to continuously inspect and adapt methodology and efficiency.
  • Ensure alignment to the cross-departmental roadmaps, create a collective plan to manage dependencies.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices to achieve higher maturity in project portfolio management
  • Evolve and continually improve the interdependencies between business models and operating practices, integrating waterfall, iterative, and agile delivery models into one, cohesive delivery strategy to best meet the evolving business needs.
  • Engage the organization to ensure continual feedback and identify emerging methodology and alignment needs.

Governance & Value Realization: 


  • Set up the robust governance framework for WBG, Treasury & International Banking portfolio.
  • Set up and drive the defined forums with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Enable stakeholder engagement and alignment.
  • Ensure the usage of standardized tools and processes.
  • Manage the WBG, Treasury & International Banking portfolio reporting and be the single source of for information.
  • Preparing for the transformation agenda updates to senior management and board of directors
  • Ensuring the post implementation benefits are benefits are clearly articulated and tracked
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of projects and implement improvements and enhancements as needed.
  • Defines, manages, the needed end-to-end work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realization of expected benefits.
  • Assess enterprise the portfolio performance, using metrics and reporting. Supporting the business segment progression towards a value based operating model
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the success of WBG, Treasury & International Banking portfolio transformation efforts, and regularly report on progress to senior management.
  • Tracks and communicates key organization metrics.
  • Escalates and tracks organization impediments, removing them where possible

Cross Functional Alignment & Technology Integration: 


  • Lead the cross functional alignment on various topics required for successful execution of programs/ projects.
  • Identify and create stakeholder registers to ensure full coverage for any initiatives and timely involvement
  • Create and manage the RACI for any initiatives and ensure the stakeholders are aligned with the same
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including WBG, Treasury & International Banking operations, marketing, finance, and IT, to ensure alignment and seamless execution of transformation initiatives
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and digital solutions to enhance the experience and improve operational efficiency.

Change Management: 


  • Drive organizational change by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and effectively managing the transition to new processes and systems
  • Facilitate plans, align incentives to outcomes; and build a culture of collaboration, communication, and engagement
  • Create and facilitate systematic approach to dealing with the transition or transformation of an organization's goals, processes or technologies

Market Analysis & Vendor Management: 


  • Stay abreast of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making and identify new opportunities for growth
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and technology partners involved in WBG, Treasury & International Banking portfolio transformation projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget

Talent Development and Team Management: 


  • Build and mentor a high-performing team capable of executing on WBG, Treasury & International Banking portfolio transformation initiatives and driving sustained business success
  • Lead the team by example
  • Be a leader in developing the talent pool for the organization by and define a growth path for team members

Bank’s Policies & Procedure:


  • Ensure the portfolio initiative are implemented withing the framework of banks’ policies and procedures
  • Keep and manage the audit requirement throughout the lifecycle of any implementation and for the department

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:


Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.


  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Product, Portfolio, Consulting, Business Management Roles
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and driving customer-centric strategies.
  • Proven track record of managing portfolio of projects and working with senior stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Project/ Portfolio Management tools like PPM, Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to banking, new solution, and customer communications.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills.
  • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
  • Experience with one or more agile or lean methodologies (Lean, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).
