Position Overview: The Head of Security for this position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security protocols to protect operations, personnel, assets etc. within the mine site. The role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in security management, preferably within the mining sector. Ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments to ensure a safe working environment and manage relationships with law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Key Responsibilities:
Security Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive security strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and addresses the unique challenges of the mining industry.
Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate security measures.
Team Leadership: Lead and manage the security team, providing guidance, training, and development to ensure a high level of performance.
Incident Response: Develop and implement incident response protocols, ensuring readiness for emergencies such as theft, sabotage, or natural disasters.
Collaboration: Work closely with operations, human resources, and legal teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and community leaders to enhance security measures and community relations.
Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for staff on security awareness and best practices.
Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee the monitoring of security systems and technology, ensuring effective surveillance and reporting mechanisms are in place.
Budget Management: Prepare and manage the security budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet security needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 15 years of experience in security management with experience working in billion-dollar mining projects.
Bachelor’s degree in security management or equivalent, Criminal Justice, theft, etc or any related field.
Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk assessment, and incident management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and implement effective security policies and procedures.
Familiar with local laws and regulations related to security and safety.
Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP) is a plus.
