Job Description

Position Overview: The Head of Security for this position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security protocols to protect operations, personnel, assets etc. within the mine site. The role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in security management, preferably within the mining sector. Ideal candidate will collaborate with various departments to ensure a safe working environment and manage relationships with law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Security Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive security strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and addresses the unique challenges of the mining industry.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate security measures.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the security team, providing guidance, training, and development to ensure a high level of performance.
  • Incident Response: Develop and implement incident response protocols, ensuring readiness for emergencies such as theft, sabotage, or natural disasters.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations, human resources, and legal teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and community leaders to enhance security measures and community relations.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for staff on security awareness and best practices.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee the monitoring of security systems and technology, ensuring effective surveillance and reporting mechanisms are in place.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage the security budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet security needs.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in security management with experience working in billion-dollar mining projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in security management or equivalent, Criminal Justice, theft, etc or any related field.
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk assessment, and incident management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective security policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with local laws and regulations related to security and safety.
  • Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP) is a plus.
