Job Description

Our client a dynamic international trading house based in Dubai is looking to hire an experienced and dynamic Head of Sales & Operations with extensive expertise in oil & gas, commodities trading, and supply chain management. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in the trading business, with a proven track record in managing and leading sales teams, developing strategic sales initiatives, and expanding business opportunities across diverse commodity sectors including oil, gas, petroleum, agriculture, metals, fertilizers, and other related products.


 Key Responsibilities:


 Sales Strategy & Leadership:


Ø  Develop and execute the overall sales strategy for the oil & gas, petroleum, agriculture, metals, and fertilizers trading divisions.


Ø  Lead and inspire a team of sales professionals across multiple commodity sectors to achieve and exceed sales targets.


Ø  Drive market penetration strategies and identify new business opportunities in global markets, including emerging and developing economies.


Ø  Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs in all commodity sectors to stay ahead of industry changes.


 Business Development:


Ø  Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate clients, suppliers, partners, government entities, and regulatory bodies across multiple commodity markets.


Ø  Lead negotiations and close high-value trading deals, including long-term supply contracts, spot market trades, and joint ventures.


Ø  Identify new market opportunities, regions, and commodities to expand the company’s portfolio and revenue streams, including underdeveloped sectors like agriculture, fertilizer, and non-ferrous metals.


Ø  Maintain an in-depth understanding of the global markets for oil, gas, petroleum, metals, agriculture, and fertilizers, including geopolitical, economic, and climate factors that impact trading and supply chains.


 Team Management & Development:


Ø  Manage and mentor a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, support, and professional development in both technical and sales competencies.


Ø  Define performance metrics and KPIs for the sales team, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategic objectives and targets.


Ø  Conduct regular training sessions on market developments, industry trends, negotiation tactics, and compliance to foster continuous improvement within the team.


 Market Intelligence & Reporting:


Ø  Analyze global market data, sales performance, and trading activities across multiple sectors to provide accurate, timely reports to senior leadership.


Ø  Develop pricing strategies for each commodity sector, and analyze market conditions, currency fluctuations, and seasonal factors that may impact sales performance.


Ø  Collaborate with other departments (e.g., risk management, logistics, operations, legal) to ensure alignment between sales strategies and overall business objectives.


 Compliance & Risk Management:


Ø  Ensure all trading activities comply with industry regulations, corporate policies, and legal standards in the oil & gas, metals, agriculture, and fertilizer markets.


Ø  Identify and mitigate sales-related risks, including credit, counterparty, and geopolitical risks, to minimize potential financial exposure.


Ø  Work closely with the legal and compliance teams to ensure contracts, transactions, and business operations are legally sound and aligned with international regulations.
