Head of Accounting Department

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Accounting to join a prominent organization in Abu Dhabi. This leadership role involves managing a team of accounting professionals, maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, and supporting executive management with financial analysis and strategic guidance. The role also ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and enhances the company's financial performance through effective accounting practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Management

• • Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop departmental goals, policies, and procedures to align with the company's objectives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and foster a high-performance team environment.

Financial Reporting and Compliance

• • Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage audits, working closely with external auditors to ensure proper financial oversight.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• • Collaborate with senior leadership in budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights into company performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor budgets and expenses to optimize financial performance and resource allocation.

Internal Controls and Risk Management

• • Design and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company's assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, providing recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure the accounting department adheres to best practices and organizational policies.

Process Improvement

• • Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and policies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead system implementations, upgrades, and other initiatives aimed at optimizing accounting operations.
  • Evaluate accounting software and technology to ensure alignment with company needs.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification
  
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of team development and success
• Exceptional communication skills for effective cross-departmental collaboration and reporting to senior management
• Experience in international and UAE accounting rules and standards and compliance with them in all transactions, financial reports and accounting registration with the Authority
• Ability to prepare financial statements, reports and budget documents in accordance with the accounting rules and standards approved in the government sector
