Job Purpose:
This role shapes and executes our Ocean Freight Product Development Strategy, takes responsibility for defining our LCL strategy and supports in the introduction of innovative customer solutions. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to in particular drive up growth, improve service offerings, and enhance the customer experience. Responsible for bringing subject matter expertise towards the commercial organization across LCL and FCL, evaluating and understanding deeply our product service map capabilities and helping develop new products which, at its end-state, offer clients the network and expected customer experience of a leading global logistics company in the sector.
This includes supporting commercial (industry verticals, sales, tender management) in defining solutions meeting customer requirements/needs, implementing the products in the required areas, and developing Ocean Freight Products and their standardization based on global, regional and industry vertical-specific needs. This role would also support in the pre-assessment of global tenders, with a specific focus on LCL.
Job Accountabilities:
- Analyse the existing LCL volumes, co-loader arrangements and CFS partnerships to help define the best strategic approach for our LCL product.
- Organise our LCL product to ensure that the regional needs are accounted for and that we can maximise yields with either an own, co-loader or combined strategy to service our clients and support our growth.
- Build strong relationships with the sales community: Sales Management, Field Sales, GKAM’s and vertical leaders being the conduit into Ocean product.
- Meet with key clients along with the commercial responsible to help articulate the ocean logistics propositions and position DP World Ocean in the best place prior to a tender release.
- Collaborate with tender and solution teams to offer competitive offerings to actual/potential customers.
- Feedback important client trends, needs and requirements, along with any other intelligence gleaned to the procurement specialists to aid them with their activities.
- Develop a deep understanding of our global capabilities across the pillars and geographies and ensure you are well placed to promote these.
- Collaborate with our Ports & Terminal and Marine Service colleagues to ensure we build E2E solutions that are as unique to the industry as possible.
- Use the knowledge of our capabilities to develop sub-products that the vertical clients need.
- Ensure these products have a go to market naming, one pager and appropriate pricing and operational process.
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience & Skill:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Ten years of experience in Ocean Freight logistics, with a proven track record in commercial, solutions, product development and knowledge of implementation.
- Previous experience in the development and operation or commercial sales of LCL.
- Previous relations with Ocean lines, global accounts and industry vertical know-how.
- Strong understanding of Ocean Freight industry dynamics, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship-building abilities.
- Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives and achieve measurable results.
- Innovative mindset with the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.
- Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools.
- Proven track record in general management, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Ability to navigate within a matrix organisation with a start-up mindset and to manage strongly across a network. Building solid relationships across all levels of a company.
- He or she will have significant experience managing cross-functional teams and demonstrated success and accountability for results.

External:
- Customers, Ocean Carriers, Industry Organisations, Logistics providers (e.g. RFS, GHA), stakeholders and agents.
