We are seeking a Glass Cutting Machine Operator/Clift Operator for one of our Manufacturing industry client in Dubai.The Glass Cutting Machine Operator / Clift Operator is responsible for operating glass cutting machines to cut glass to specified dimensions and performing tasks related to the handling and lifting of glass sheets using cliffs (or lifting equipment). This role requires strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and mechanical aptitude. The operator ensures glass products meet quality standards while maintaining safe and efficient operations within the production environment.
Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate glass cutting machines according to job specifications, including adjusting cutting parameters such as speed, angle, and cutting pressure.
Cutting Precision: Perform precise cutting of glass sheets to meet the required size and shape, ensuring minimal waste and high-quality cuts.
Inspection & Quality Control: Inspect cut glass sheets for defects, cracks, and imperfections before and after cutting. Measure and verify dimensions using calipers or other measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications.
Troubleshooting: Identify and address minor machine issues during operation to avoid production delays.
Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on cutting equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts, as required. Report any mechanical problems or concerns to the maintenance team.
2. Clift (Lifting Equipment) Operation:
Glass Handling: Safely operate the cliff or other lifting equipment to move heavy glass sheets into position for cutting, loading/unloading, and storage.
Positioning & Stacking: Ensure proper stacking and securing of glass sheets to avoid breakage during transportation or storage.
Team Coordination: Collaborate with team members to ensure safe and efficient movement of glass materials between workstations and storage areas.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols when operating lifting equipment to prevent accidents, ensuring the safety of yourself and other personnel.
3. Safety & Workplace Cleanliness:
Safety Procedures: Follow all company and industry safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
Machine Safety: Ensure all equipment is properly safeguarded and used in compliance with safety regulations.
Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that tools, equipment, and materials are stored properly and the floor is free from debris.
4. Record Keeping and Documentation:
Production Tracking: Accurately document cutting production data, including quantities produced, defect rates, and machine settings.
Quality Control Reports: Report any quality control issues or defects in the glass to supervisors or quality control teams for further action.
5. Collaboration & Teamwork:
Team Support: Work closely with other machine operators, production staff, and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines.
Training: Assist in training new employees or less experienced operators on machine functions, safety protocols, and best practices.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in machinery operation, glass cutting, or a related field is a plus.
Experience: Proven (1-3 years experience) operating glass cutting machines, clifts, or other similar equipment in a manufacturing or industrial setting is highly preferred.
Skills:
Knowledge of glass cutting techniques and machinery operation.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.
Familiarity with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more) and operate heavy lifting equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy production environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
