About the RoleThe General Manager (GM) for Abu Dhabi will take full ownership of the Abu Dhabi market, leading efforts to establish and grow our business in the city. Reporting to the COO, this entrepreneurial leader will manage a significant P&L, drive market penetration, and deliver an exceptional customer experience. The GM will be the face of Careem in Abu Dhabi, unlocking partnerships, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring sustainable growth across multiple services.


What You'll Do


  • P&L Ownership: Manage and optimize a sizable P&L by driving growth, operational efficiency, and profitability across all verticals.
  • Market Growth & Expansion: Launch new services and scale existing ones, leveraging a strong understanding of Abu Dhabi’s market dynamics and customer needs in collaboration with Associate GM’s of respective verticals..
  • Customer Acquisition & Engagement: Develop strategies to bring new users onto the platform and cross-sell services effectively, driving engagement across verticals in collaboration with marketing and growth teams.
  • Partnership Development: Build strategic relationships with local stakeholders, government entities, and businesses to unlock growth opportunities and align with market needs.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Use data and market insights to shape business strategies and prioritize investments to maximize returns.
  • Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing team, including vertical heads and functional leads, fostering collaboration and a growth mindset.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with regional marketing, product, and operations teams to align strategies and execute plans seamlessly.
  • Marketing Leadership: Provide insights & oversee impactful marketing campaigns to build brand awareness and drive customer acquisition, collaborating closely with the marketing teams.
  • Entrepreneurial Problem-Solving: Adopt a creative and hands-on approach to overcoming market challenges, ensuring agility in execution.

What You'll Need


  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role with full P&L ownership, ideally in tech and high-growth start ups.
  • Experience working across multiple verticals or service lines is a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated success in launching and scaling businesses, with a strong background in customer acquisition and marketing.
  • Deep knowledge of Abu Dhabi’s market dynamics, customer segments, and cultural nuances.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to build and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of creative problem-solving and growth hacking.
  • Expertise in stakeholder and partner management, including navigating regulatory and business environments in the UAE.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to leverage analytics to inform strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of inspiring internal teams and influencing external stakeholders.
