Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Perform routine and specialized microbiological testing on food samples to detect and quantify microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, mold, and viruses.

Utilize various laboratory techniques, Plate count methods, ATP and microscopy, to identify and characterize microbial contaminants.

Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Monitor and assess the microbiological safety of raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples.

Collaborate with the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)/ food safety team to identify and control microbiological hazards in the food production process.

Develop, update, and review HACCP plans to ensure continuous improvement in food safety.

Contribute to product development by evaluating the microbiological aspects of new formulations, ingredients, and processing technologies.

Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in food microbiology to enhance product safety and quality.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory activities, test results, and corrective actions taken.

Prepare and submit comprehensive reports summarizing microbiological findings to management and relevant stakeholders.

Provide training to production staff on proper hygiene practices, sanitation, and microbiological control measures.

Stay informed about emerging food safety issues and educate the team on best practices.

Stay informed about local, national, and international regulations related to food safety and microbiology.

Ensure that the company's practices and procedures align with regulatory requirements.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including quality control, production, and R&D, to address and resolve microbiological issues.

Participate in internal and external audits as needed.

Support the Quality manager and coordinate with departments during crises or product recall incidents to ensure smooth recall and crises management process as per defined procedures.

Responsible to create a safe working environment to minimize risks and ensure the wellbeing of laboratory staff.

Work closely with health and safety professionals or teams within the organization to ensure alignment with broader health and safety initiatives
