Our client, a startup in the commercial shipping sector, is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager with a background in commercial shipping, ideally an ex-sea captain, to manage their fleet operations and facilitate charter ship acquisitions.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial shipping and ship management, with the ability to understand ship management language and oversee fleet operations. You will be responsible for finding and chartering ships and coordinating the daily management of the fleet. Candidates with ex-sea captain backgrounds are preferred for their comprehensive industry knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage daily fleet operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Identify, charter, and coordinate ships for company requirements.
- Communicate with ship owners, charterers, and other stakeholders to manage fleet activities.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Monitor and report on fleet performance, maintenance, and repairs.
- Implement strategies for cost-efficiency and optimization of fleet utilization.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in commercial shipping, ideally as an ex-sea captain.
- Strong understanding of ship management processes and language.
Ability to find and secure charter ships for the company.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with UAE shipping regulations and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary of AED 15,000 per month, with room for growth depending on performance and experience.
