Job Description: Controlling Supervisor - Trading Operations


Role Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Controlling Supervisor to join our team. The role involves supporting the financial operations of our trading business by providing accurate financial analysis, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.


Responsibilities


Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing P&L variances for each trade.


Cash Flow Monitoring: Track and report cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational efficienc


Accounts Management:


  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage financial transactions related to operations.

Internal Controls and Record-Keeping:


  • Maintain and enhance internal controls.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Trading Position Oversight: Monitor and report on trading positions.


Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial practices with operational cycles.


Guidance and Training: Provide training and guidance to accounting staff.


Controller Backup: Act as a backup for the Commodity Controller when required.


Key Requirements 


  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA or CA preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with trading companies.
  • Knowledge of commodity trading and/or dry bulk shipping (preferred; training provided).
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills to communicate financial health to stakeholders effectively.
  • High standard of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Excel (VB programming/macros desirable).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Navision, Microsoft Dynamics, or Sage.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills and initiative.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Curiosity and capacity to learn quickly.
