Financial Controlling Manager – GCC & Pakistan

ROLE SUMMARY



The purpose of this role in the organization is to ensure that the company operates within a robust accounting and internal controls environment thereby safeguarding the company’s assets (tangible/intangible/financial) and protecting the license to operate. The role is also required to drive the strategies for achieving the Group’s cash metrics.
The role holder will be a key member of the cluster controlling team and will provide a high-level review of key controls and material transactions across the Marketing Companies. The incumbent will ensure continuous process improvement from an operational standpoint. Success will depend on effective liaison with functional and business colleagues across AZ to ensure clarity and drive improvements

What you’ll do



Financial Controlling (Strategy and Operational)



Supervise & support the completeness of Month End Close activities in a timely manner and ensure the integrity of the reported numbers. Oversee the financial accounting and liaise with local accountants, GFS Middle Office, and GFS Back Office for accurate and timely completion of financial accounting activities within the Group accounting and reporting deadlines. Assume overall responsibility for cross-team delivery within each finance tower (Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Cash-and-Banking and Travel-and-Expenses). Main point of Contact with GFS Back Office to drive relationship for transactional services based in India (P2P, SOTC, R2R, Master Data) providing approvals/escalation point. Review and approve the Journal Vouchers prepared by Middle Office or Back Office teams, provide support documentation, guidance on chart of accounts and additional posting Keys, performing Balance Sheet reconciliation on these GLs owned by the market and perform random reviews on trial balance. Liaise with Group Finance teams (GFR, GFS, etc.) to remain up to date with latest accounting and technical pronouncement and ensure that any such new requirements are implemented within the relevant timelines.

Risk / Controls / Governance



Led execution of internal / external financial audits, manage the request of information ensuring timely compliance with requirements, working closely with the cross-functional teams. Lead implementation of Financial Controls Framework (FCF) for Embedded Finance and ensure timely monitoring and reporting of these controls and support the standardization of controls/policies/governance by Middle Office. Lead improvements in controls and efficiency are continually being sought through Process or System enhancements. Provide recommendation / inputs / reviews for process simplification, including support for developing policy statements and standard operating procedures for finance related activities.

Cash Conversion Cycle / Customer and Vendors Management



Work closely with the Collections and Procurement teams to ensure that DSO and DPO targets are achieved. Assist the Financial Controller in timely collections accounts receivables, and in resolution of any disputes with the customers. Perform due diligence reviews and financial assessments for customers and vendors. Review and validate customer claims for accuracy of financial data, documentation and related computation as per the agreements. Support FC in DSO planning & ensure timely submission of DSO forecast for all planning cycles.

Other



Manage the taxes calendar with different external parties and Group/Middle Office taxes team, properly review tax calculations prepared by 3rd party including but not limited to VAT, Provisional Taxes. Act as / manage key point of contact/system admin with Bankers, ensuring mandates are up to date, banking approvals and different authorizations. Perform first line monitoring over finance driven processes and drive the local compliance agenda for the controlling function. Adhere to correct accounting treatment related to post deal management on agreements. Participate and/or lead in local, regional, or global ad-hoc projects as needed to drive process improvements and efficiencies.

Essential for the role



Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Minimum 7 years of relevant finance work experience Working knowledge of IFRS / Local GAAPs Advance Level MS Excel user Strong communication and presentation skills Hands-on experience in managing a busy process delivering to strict deadlines. Highly organized and agile, ability to multitask. Fluent in English Work experience in a highly matrix organization. Good working knowledge of SAP Project management skills

Desirable for the role



Controlling experience Arabic nice to have. CFA, CPA, or MBA Holder is preferred. Big 4 accounting firm background is preferred. Work experience within a multinational Pharmaceutical is preferred. Experience working in/with a Shared Services Centre
