Job Description
The Instrument Field Engineer will assist with vessel and equipment projects, office support, follow and promote the systems and procedures of the company, provide technical support to the vessels, and assist in all departmental issues as required. The role is also expected to manage the following responsibilities:
- Assisting with vessel projects as required
- Overseeing engineering projects from initial requirements, including budgetary preparation, through to test plans and producing/documenting precise technical reports.
- Carrying out third party vessel technical inspections and being involved in the OBN/MTS operational requirements.
- Actively following and promoting the EHSQ practices and procedures when working throughout the company and taking corrective action as situations may require.
- Providing technical support and assistance to the vessels, both on site and remotely
- Acting as temporary Instrumentation Chief on a vessel or assisting in office operations when required.
- Having a working knowledge of the inventory, requisition, and planned maintenance systems
- Keep abreast of changes in the industry for technology and proactively make recommendations to management for enhanced service offerings.
- Actively and systematically seeking and suggesting improvements and innovations.
- Supporting the Company environmental initiatives and ensuring that all proposed Instrument department tasks take into consideration their environmental impact and any residual impacts are mitigated accordingly.
- Ensuring that when evaluating materials for purchase a green alternative has been considered and if the green alternative is found to be an adequate replacement, then it is purchased when and if available.
- Providing coaching and mentoring to field-based personnel.
- Performing EHSQ audits as mandated by company policy and as circumstances require.
- Producing monthly reports and specific reports as required.
- Supervision of Personnel: Not applicable, apart from when overseeing project work or acting as Instrumentation Chief.
- Internal Relations: Daily contact with department Chiefs offshore and technical department onshore. Good relationships required with other technical departments and operations group.
- External Relations: Communicate with clients on technical issues in support of sales and operations. Liaison with vendors and third-party service providers.
