About the job ESTIMATION MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Estimation Manager to lead our estimation team and manage the cost estimation process for various construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and competitive bids, overseeing the preparation of detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with project teams to optimize project profitability. The Estimation Manager will play a key role in the pre-construction phase, driving strategic decision-making and ensuring that projects are financially viable from inception.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead, mentor, and manage the estimation team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work output.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and project management, to ensure seamless collaboration during the estimation process.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and identify opportunities for professional development within the team.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
  • Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to determine the scope of work and required resources.
  • Lead the preparation of competitive bids and tender documents, ensuring alignment with company standards and client requirements.
  • Identify and analyze risks associated with project costs and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Develop and implement estimation strategies that align with company goals and market conditions.
  • Analyze historical data and market trends to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with senior management to provide insights and recommendations on pricing strategies and project selection.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather relevant information and clarify project requirements during the estimation process.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best possible pricing and terms.
  • Present and justify estimates and tender submissions to senior management and clients.
  • Ensure that all estimates are prepared in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all estimates and tender submissions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of completed projects against initial estimates to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present detailed estimation reports to senior management, highlighting key assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all estimation activities, including bid submissions, cost analyses, and project documentation.
  • Ensure that all documentation is organized and accessible for future reference and audit purposes.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or similar is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction estimation, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and cost management principles.
  • Proficiency in estimation software such as CostX, WinQS, or similar.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
