Job Description

Job Overview: An Estimation Engineer is responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for engineering projects, often within construction, manufacturing, or other technical industries. They analyze project specifications, conduct research, and collaborate with various stakeholders to produce detailed cost estimates and project proposals.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope, requirements, and constraints of engineering projects.
  2. Cost Estimation: Utilize estimating techniques and tools to calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other resources needed for project execution.
  3. Quantity Takeoff: Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications to determine the quantities of materials required for construction or manufacturing processes.
  4. Vendor and Supplier Management: Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and quotations for materials and services.
  5. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and timelines and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  6. Value Engineering: Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize project designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or performance.
  7. Cost Control: Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle of the project, identify variances from the estimated budget, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  8. Proposal Development: Prepare detailed project proposals and bid documents outlining cost estimates, project schedules, and technical specifications for client review and approval.
  9. Client Communication: Engage with clients, architects, consultants, and other stakeholders to discuss project requirements, clarify scope, and address any concerns or inquiries related to cost estimation and project planning.
  10. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, project documents, correspondence, and other relevant information in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
