About the Job
Supervise, coordinate and provide technical and operational support related to activities like overhaul, revamp, up-rate, studies, troubleshooting & RCA related to rotating equipment at all plants. Provide engineering support to project, front end, pre-FEED engineering divisions in bid preparation, tender technical evaluation & selection of rotating equipment, major rotating equipment engineering deliverables review.
Engineering Studies, Advice and Expertise
- Review capital spares inventory for rotating equipment ensuring that optimum levels are maintained and to order replacement of aged parts.
- Review & update Maintenance Standard and DGS related to rotating equipment.
- Provide inputs to develop annual & long-term (operating & capital) budget related to the major rotating equipment for all plants & to ensure effective utilization & control by preparing contract acquisition plan for subsequent years & five year business plan for capital purchase of the rotating equipment items
- Handle refurbishment / Procurement items as per planned budgeted items or unplanned.
- Develop scope of work for long term service agreements with OEMs & non-OEM service providers for utilization of specialist services & refurbishment of capital insurance spares & to ensure that the quality of repairs / overhauls are in line with the agreed standards.
- Capable to handle the major rotating equipment (Gas Turbines, Compressors, Steam turbines, Power Turbines, Turbo-Expanders etc.) refurbishment, aged components remnant life assessment, OEM service bulletins evaluations / implementations and deployment of latest/specialized techniques for rejuvenations and restorations. Ensure consistent quality throughout refurbishment work and replacement orders by performing careful check on the quality procedures of OEM / service providers and adequate inspections.
- Assist plants in identifying solutions to recurring chronic problems which require in depth investigation, Root Cause Failure Analysis and liaise with OEMs to ensure effective solutions.
- Coordinate studies related to feasibilities, life assessment, obsolescence, upgrades, and future strategies & evaluate OEM recommendations related to new technologies to enhance reliability, availability, efficiency & performance of rotating equipment.
- Carry out the studies influencing the future of Gas Turbines and other critical rotating equipment thorough & critical review.
- Provide technical support on rotating equipment to plants, projects & training departments / divisions and to support plant & project divisions in execution of various specialized upgrade/revamp projects.
- Support projects, FE, Pre-FEED teams by preparing data sheets/specifications, equipment selection, finalize sizing, layout, estimate capacity & power requirement for rotating equipment & related systems. Evaluate technical offers from bidders, review technical query sheets, vendor documents & attend clarification meetings with project divisions on rotating equipment issues.
- Review the execution strategies, design & specifications at minimum overall cost while being consistent with project requirements.
- Maintain a consistent approach in preparation of bid documents and evaluation of projects technical tenders to ensure consistency in all the new projects
- Provide technical support in assessing equipment chronic issues as reported by end users
- Participate in RCAs of rotating equipment.
Supervision
- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective functional objectives.
Budgets
- Provide input for preparation of the functional budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver functional objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Professional Qualification.
- At least 8 years of experience in Engineering and Operation Support for the Rotating Equipment within a large industrial organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Experience with Gas Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Pumps, Gear Boxes and Turbo-expanders to perform above mentioned key accountabilities is essential.
- Good knowledge about rotating equipment design, engineering, construction, installation, site acceptance testing, post installation review, maintenance and operation in oil and gas industry.
- Familiarity of international design codes and standards, procurement, construction, (pre) commissioning and hand-over specification packages for rotating equipment.
- Familiarity of the capabilities and shortcomings of major rotating equipment manufacturers and a proven track record of conducting technical and commercial negotiations with them.
- Planning and Organising, Scheduling and Co-ordinating, Checking, Examining and Recording
- Working knowledge of MAXIMO / SAP.
- Experience in rotating equipment condition monitoring and thermodynamic performance data analysis.
- Technical report writing skills.
