Job Summary

The Director of Interior Design Projects will execute all hospitality design projects while maintaining the integrity and excellence of Atlantis Design Standards.  You will lead and oversee the design process from concept to completion, ensuring exceptional quality and creativity in every project whilst ensuring 5-star luxury hospitality standards are applied.  Your expertise and passion for creating captivating, functional, and inviting spaces will be instrumental in shaping the guest experience within our hotels, restaurants, Aquaventure World and other hospitality venues. You are expected to be internal client facing and hold responsibilities from design pitches, presentations, and day-to-day project management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conceptualization and development of interior design concepts that align with the internal client’s vision and project goals
• Develop master plans, mood boards, sketches, and design proposals to convey your ideas effectively
• Lead the design team to bring concepts to life through detailed design development and space planning
• Build and maintain strong internal client relationships by understanding their needs and ensuring that design solutions meet and exceed their expectations
• Independently review and assess properties and project documentation, contributing space planning and detailing to be included in design presentations, FF&E, Artwork, OS&E and GC drawings and/or specification submittals for compliance with Local code and IBC standards.
• Work on CAPEX projects and provide design guidelines and advice to operating teams
• Responsible for the Hotel Design Review presentation to key executives and ownership.
• Continually monitors current business processes, makes recommendations, and implements approved changes as required.  Project evaluations and recommendations shall optimize the quality and enhancement of the guest experience and overall performance of the property.
• Projects will encompass long-range CAPEX planning, ‘property improvement planning’ development, property and project assessments, and site and desktop evaluations for conversions, renovations, and new construction projects.
• Drive the evolution of the Operations CAPEX planning initiative and all respective CAPEX projects, adhere to Documentation and Construction Standards, specific design initiatives, communication tools, etc.
• Direct and guide design team and define team resources to ensure successful implementation of design excellence within an operating environment.
• Develop a strong culture of integrity, teamwork, passion, creativity, respect, and strong project delivery with Sourcing and Procurement to review and comment on design consultant scope and fee
• Support the delivery team in all aspects related to design, including ensuring acceptable quality deliverables by all stakeholders in all stages of the project.
• Develop RFP’s, consultant contracts and manage contracts, as necessary. 

Requirements

• 4-year degree from an accredited interior design or architecture program
• Experience 15 years+ of design, documentation, and project management experience with proven track record in handling luxury resort projects or large-scale mixed-use developments at major consultancy firms and/or 5-star developers and operating brands
• Experience and knowledge of all aspects of 5-star Integrated Resort design, including space planning, interior design, FF&E, and materials
• Extensive experience implementing design processes, including driving current consultants’ practices, scope, and abilities
• Experience with managing teams and complex projects, including design team organizational structures and resources
• Experience with broad, complex teams delivering projects for large-scale hospitality projects
• Experience in large-scale Integrated Resorts is preferred, but not critical
• Ability to successfully communicate in both oral and written forms and graphically by developing diagrams and documenting reviews (e.g., CAD, loose hand sketches, etc.)
• Excellent leadership capabilities, charisma, and communication skills to influence, inspire, and motivate key stakeholders and employees around a single vision
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with senior management team and ownership with poise and discipline, while being a self-starter
• Strong project management, organizational, communication and collaborative skills, including the ability to handle details through to completion, ensure project objectives are met and projects are successfully delivered on par with ‘Design Excellence’.
• Strong financial acumen and bottom-line orientation with strong analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, and changeable environment under pressure while meeting deadlines
• Highly organized with ability to work well independently and in teams
• Use of Microsoft Office, AutoCad, Revit, Sketch Up, Adobe Design Solutions, InDesign.
