Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Assistant Manager – Sustainable Procurement will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Dubai Holding's Group Services Procurement responsible procurement policy and strategy. This role involves integrating sustainability requirements into procurement processes, assessing supplier performance, and fostering strategic partnerships to drive responsible procurement practices. The assistant manager will ensure that procurement activities align with Dubai Holding's sustainability goals and commitments.
Key Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible Procurement Strategy and Governance;
- Develop and implement a comprehensive responsible procurement policy that aligns with Dubai Holding’s sustainability goals.
- Create governance frameworks to ensure policy compliance and effectiveness across all business units.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates to the policy to reflect the latest sustainability standards and industry best practices, ensuring strategic alignment with Dubai Holding’s Sustainability Strategy.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate the policy into existing procurement processes and systems
Integration of Sustainability into Procurement Processes;
- Embed sustainability requirements into key procurement documents such as RFPs and contracts.
- Develop training programmes for procurement staff to ensure understanding and implementation of sustainability requirements.
- Monitor compliance with sustainability requirements and address any deviations, liaising with the business owners.
Supplier Assessment and Engagement;
- Lead the supplier assessment programme with EcoVadis, ensuring a thorough evaluation of supplier sustainability performance.
- Create and implement a supplier engagement programme to improve the sustainability performance of key suppliers.
- Organise workshops and training sessions for suppliers to promote sustainable practices and compliance with Dubai Holding’s standards.
ESG Business Partnering:
- Work closely with various lines of business to identify strategic opportunities for implementing responsible procurement practices.
- Promote local sustainable sourcing initiatives and support business units in integrating these practices into their procurement activities.
- Provide expert advice and support to business units on sustainability-related procurement issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainable procurement initiatives.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Develop and implement a robust system for monitoring and reporting on the performance of the responsible procurement strategy.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Use data and analytics to track progress against sustainability targets and make data-driven recommendations.
- Ensure transparency and accountability by communicating performance results to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability and/or Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification Program in Sustainability or Circular Economy
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in sustainability-related roles, with a strong understanding of responsible procurement practices.
- Proven experience in procurement, ideally within a sustainability-focused capacity.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability standards, frameworks, and best practices in procurement.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time.
- Sustainability Expertise: Deep understanding of sustainability issues and how they relate to procurement.
- Ability to develop and implement policies and strategies effectively.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficient in using procurement and sustainability assessment tools (e.g., EcoVadis).
