Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

This newly created role will form a critical part of the marketing team within the Energy Division of dmg events.

The Database Marketing Manager will work closely with product marketers to define target markets for each event and its components. The role involves creating and maintaining a strategic database plan to ensure that the right audience is targeted at the right time, in line with each event’s marketing cycle.

This role is essential for growing the Energy database according to an annual plan and budget, ensuring that the correct datasets are available for targeted marketing segmentation. Additionally, the role requires regular gap analysis to ensure full market coverage across all key segments and involves managing a multi-million-dollar database development budget to drive both new data acquisition and database hygiene.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

▪Collaborate with product marketing teams to identify and define target markets and event sub-components

▪Develop and implement a comprehensive database strategy for each event, aligned with marketing objectives

Performance Indicators

▪Effective market segmentation and improved event-specific targeting

▪Successful execution of targeted marketing campaigns; database growth in line with strategic goals

▪Conduct regular gap analysis to assess the scope and requirements of the Energy division's database, ensuring full market coverage across all key segments

▪Work with the central Data Team to ensure data projects are delivered according to the strategic plan, with a focus on data quality

▪Manage and maintain all customer records, ensuring data accuracy and integrity

▪Manage a multi-million-dollar database development budget, overseeing new data acquisition and ensuring optimal use of resources

▪Create and deliver automated KPI reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, communicating progress on data builds for each event

▪Analyse and interpret multiple data sources to provide actionable insights for enhancing customer experience and personalisation

▪Increased market coverage and database relevance; timely identification and closure of data gaps

▪High-quality data delivered on time; continuous improvement in data quality metrics

▪Accurate and up-to-date customer database; reduced data redundancy and improved database hygiene

▪Effective budget management and resource allocation; achievement of data acquisition targets

▪Regular, accurate KPI reports; proactive communication of blockers and implementation of solutions

▪Data-driven improvements in customer experience and marketing effectiveness

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a related field.

Minimum Experience:

• At least three years of experience in a marketing data role. • Experience managing large global data sets.

• Experience in the Energy Sector is desirable.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with in-depth knowledge of Excel and other data manipulation tools.

• Proficiency with project management applications (e.g., JIRA, Monday.com).

• Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence software (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) is desirable

• Experience with SQL (Structured Query Language) is desirable

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work streams, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively. • Excellent attention to detail for accurate conclusions and predictions.

• Strong communication skills, with confidence in advocating for data collection best practices. • Adaptability and flexibility in managing a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
