Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the electrical maintenance team across the paper mill and converting lines, ensuring efficient operations, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Ensure the optimal functionality of ABB DCS, QCS, and Drives systems by proactively monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving issues.
- Oversee and maintain motor control systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, servo drives, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Provide expert-level support in instrumentation for paper mills and converting lines, including calibration, loop testing, and troubleshooting of sensors (pressure, temperature, flow, and tension control).
- Manage electrical and automation systems for converting lines, including diaper, tissue, and packaging machines.
- Troubleshoot and optimize electrical controls for cutting, folding, laminating, wrapping, and packing machines.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and reliability of both mill and converting operations.
- Evaluate and upgrade electrical systems and control panels to ensure they align with industry best practices and safety regulations.
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs, optimizing schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Operational & Management Responsibilities
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies that enhance plant efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality or safety.
- Assist the Technical Manager in preparing and executing annual maintenance plans, budgets, and capital investment proposals.
- Supervise and mentor electrical engineers and technicians, ensuring they receive necessary training to stay updated with technological advancements.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintenance manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and best practices.
- Oversee inventory management for spare parts, ensuring the availability of critical components while controlling costs.
- Work closely with production, mechanical, and automation teams to implement process improvements and resolve operational bottlenecks.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, health & safety, environmental, and quality standards across all electrical operations.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and analyze downtime reports, failure analysis reports, and performance metrics to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to forecast and requisition spare parts efficiently.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all maintenance activities, electrical modifications, and system upgrades.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a similar role within an industrial setting, preferably in paper mills and converting operations.
- Strong expertise in ABB DCS, QCS, and Drives systems is mandatory.
- In-depth knowledge of instrumentation systems for both paper mills and converting machines, including sensors, actuators, and PLC-based control systems.
- Extensive experience in motor control, variable speed drives, servo motors, and power distribution systems.
- Experience in automation and control systems for converting lines, such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and ABB PLCs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and reliability improvements.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
- Proficient in technical documentation, reporting, and software tools such as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong command of English (written and spoken); Arabic is a plus.
Preferred Certifications
- ABB DCS or QCS certification (highly preferred).
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent.
