Job Description
Day-to-day responsibility for the performance of the Risk, Compliance and Legal (RCL) team in Dubai. Manage and develop the sub-practice in accordance with the firm’s defined strategy, as an integral part of the company i.e., grow the offering into a practice in its own right. Reporting to the Capital Markets Practice Lead and having line management of some or all members of the sub-practice.
Deep subject matter expertise in Dubai capital markets regulation Knowledge of the broader Dubai regulatory landscape in the Funds, Wealth Managements and Financial Crime spheres Significant consulting experience Strong grasp of the sales process, including demonstrable success Commercially astute First class people leader
Commercial Practice Management:
Manage local P&L – pricing work, controllable expenses, staff costs, discretionary spend. Growth of revenue in line with the company’s overall aspirations. Develop 3-year practice business plan, including documenting strategy, targets and KPIs. Represent the team in the global business planning process. Forecast Practice performance on a 1–6-month basis and take appropriate action. Proactive and innovative if any of team not utilised.
Business development:
Ensuring the full range of business development activity is in place to win new clients, grow existing clients and cross sell. Upskill and develop all resources in the practice to increase commercial awareness and maximise business development opportunities. Take propositions from creation to client wins. Grow the revenue for a portfolio of strategic accounts. Utilising your own network to bring in clients. Understand the full suite of services offered by Bovill Newgate and introduce other teams to clients. Ensure client proposals are of a high standard and lead pitches where invited to do so. Review and renew current process where appropriate to enhance current successes. Work with the marketing team to deliver campaigns and other brand development strategies Lead the delivery of work and the development of new products. Ensure your team keeps up to date with regulatory change themes so that the company can develop appropriate commercial offerings in response. Produce high quality thought leadership pieces. Collaborate with other Bovill Newgate stakeholders, including in overseas teams to win, deliver and resource high quality client work. Lead major cross-practice campaigns in accordance with the business plan.
Client delivery:
Ultimately responsible for the provision of high-quality advice and support to clients on a range of topics. This includes:
- Capital Markets
- Funds
- Wealth Management
- Financial Crime
Manage projects, often with multiple workstreams. This includes project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource management and project close-down. Apply balanced judgement to a range of issues faced by firms. Deliver key messages from our work to the C-Suite of clients and senior management at various regulatory bodies. Understand the reg tech market and how reg tech solutions can benefit both our clients and Bovill Newgate. Provide high quality QA that ensures satisfied clients, as well as minimising risk to Bovill Newgate. Feedback to consultants on quality of output considered extremely important, so must be able to communicate these messages in a constructive manner. Actively partner to support and deliver on shared projects and responsibilities, where required.
Regulatory knowledge:
SME in the specialist area of Dubai capital markets regulation. Familiarity with the Dubai rules in the Funds, Wealth Management and Financial Crime spheres. Keep abreast of regulatory developments and understand how client activities may be impacted. Be proactive in updating both colleagues and clients on relevant regulatory changes and industry news. Develop a thorough understanding of clients’ businesses and requirements so you can provide relevant and accurate advice. Help develop Bovill Newgate’s technical capacity within the relevant sectors.

Contribute strongly as a people leader and role model across the wider employee population. Work with HR and Recruitment to support delivery of the overall company people management strategy. Ensure key people metrics remain within acceptable ranges for your team – for example attrition/leavers, meeting/exceeding performance targets, meeting deadlines for objective setting, etc. Take personal accountability for the behaviours exhibited by you and your team, and the values demonstrated, to ensure you/they are contributing positively to a successful culture of performance and growth. Provide objective and well-evidenced business justifications for all proposed salary increases, promotions and bonus recommendations for your team, and other colleagues when required. Manage the development and progression of individuals within your team to ensure a good succession plan and pipeline of resource and skills is in place for the practice, with support from HR. Contribute to and support the senior leadership team by ensuring key messages and senior decisions land as positively and constructively as possible with your team and across the wider employee population. Provide appropriate professional challenge and feedback to key leaders and tiers of governance. Act with discretion and maintain appropriate confidentiality. Ensure collective responsibility is minimised (i.e., being responsible for others’ actions by tolerating, ignoring, or harbouring them without actual collaboration). Call out negative and damaging behaviours that are not aligned to company values.
