Performs professional duties of an Internal Medicine doctor.
Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
Evaluates and treats all common conditions during pregnancy: Hypertension (high blood pressure), Diabetes, Blood Clots, Kidney Disease, Thyroid Problems, Pulmonary Disease, Lupus, Heart Disease, Seizures, Bleeding Disorders, Asthma and Obesity in Pregnancy.
Evaluates and treats acute symptoms in pregnancy such aspalpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches and lower back pain.
Combines the expertise from obstetric medicine physicians with that of a number of other specialists including maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, nurses with critical care expertise and pharmacists.
Maintains contact with the patient's and other health care providers throughout care.
Responsible for hospitalized cases and certain out-patients whose disease requires medical care at the specialist level.
Responsible for the admission and work-up of all medical patients to medical wards, and HDU as required. These patients remain the responsibility of the admitting internist from the time of admission to the date of discharge.
Responsible for the day-to-day care of patients who are assigned to the ward physicians; however, the ultimate responsibility remains with the admitting Internist.
Conducts out-patient medical consultations in the clinics by appointment and follows-up on medical problems as needed.
Demonstrates dependability by answering to medical consultations by physicians in other departments after working hours and when on call.
Performs the professional duties of an internist in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges maintained by the Internal Medicine department for individual internists. Privileges may differ between individual internists, depending on the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
Answers in-patient consultations from medical or other in-patient services.
Participates in the reading of EKG’s. Performs lung function studies and makes interpretations when needed.
Administers Executive Health Program examinations on a regular basis.
