Job Description

The Social Media and Events Coordinator will help enhance the college’s reputation and visibility in the community and the region to achieve strategic actions such as student recruitment. The Coordinator's primary responsibility will be to produce engaging social media content and to organize and promote college events. To achieve this, the Coordinator is expected to possess strong writing and editing skills in Arabic and English, as well as presentation, technical and project management skills. S/he must have a deep understanding of activities within each of the college’s departments, e.g. curriculum innovation, faculty and student research and successes, alumni stories, and important events and partnerships.


The Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the Office of Strategic Communication and Marketing (SCM). This position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.


Job Responsibilities    


Content


  • Curate college presence on social media platforms, including LinkedIn.
  • Monitor and update content on college webpages.
  • Work with academic teams within the college to promote their programs via the relevant social media platforms.
  • Work with the Dean on college newsletter and coordinate its production and dissemination to college stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of engaging visual assets including photos and video.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Dean.

Events


  • Coordinate college-wide events with other university units including Office of Strategice Communication and Marketing, Office of Enrollment Management and Office of Advancement of Alumni Affairs.
  • Oversee all operational aspects of college events, e.g. invitation, securing venues, scheduling, catering, facilities, rentals, décor, entertainment, permits, transportation, AV needs, videographer/photographer, staffing, publicity, guest services (trips, accommodation, etc.), and other relevant activities.
  • Generate continuous feed /news on specific events.
  • Create post-event surveys.
  • Evaluate on-going events and recommend improvements.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications and Skills Required    


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, design or any subject area relevant to the college.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in marketing products or services.
  • Excellent verbal, written and editing skills in Arabic and English.
  • Excellent skills in video production/editing.
  • Experience in updating website content is advantageous.
  • Experience in organizing/coordinating/supervising events is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative setting and under tight deadlines.
  • Positive, outgoing, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously and across various stakeholder groups in a dynamic academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills


  • Related work experience in an academic environment, especially higher education administration.
  • Knowledge of graphic design, photography and video production/editing
