Hiring for a large crypto-currency company in Abu Dhabi.
Job Summary:
The Chief Compliance Officer will be tasked with
building and maintaining a robust compliance framework suitable for a rapidly
developing cryptocurrency business. They will oversee the company's compliance
programs, ensuring the company is keeping up with all regulatory changes and
requirements and is prepared for any compliance reviews or audits. The CCO will
work closely with other senior leaders to implement practices that meet the
standards of regulators and protect the company from legal and reputational
risk.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
- Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously to enhance risk management.
- Revise procedures, reports, etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
- Draft, modify, and implement company policies in collaboration with corporate counsel.
- Collaborate with external auditors and HR when needed.
- Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation.
- Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices.
- Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
- Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
- Work with the legal department and senior management to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Lead the Compliance Department in initiatives that drive company-wide adherence to regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions the company operates within.
Requirements- Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager, specifically within the financial services or cryptocurrency industry.
- Experience with regulatory bodies and procedures (e.g., SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, FATF, etc.).
- A thorough knowledge of the industry’s standards and regulations; comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
- Analytical abilities and an aptitude for detail-oriented work.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record-keeping.
- Methodical and diligent with an analytical mindset.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience, with atleast 4+ years of experience in the related field.
- Bachelor's degree in law, finance, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree or professional certification in compliance (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) considered an advantage.
