About the job CHIEF ACCOUNTANT
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to lead our accounting department and ensure the financial integrity and accuracy of our organization's financial records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and team management. The Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, supervising the accounting team, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to support strategic decision-making.
JOB RESPONSBILITIES:
- Lead and manage the accounting team, including setting clear objectives, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
- Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and monitor performance against those targets.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of audits.
- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring that the organization remains in compliance.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and improve the accuracy of financial reporting.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA designation preferred.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in progressively responsible accounting roles, with a track record of success in team management.
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision in financial reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Prior experience in auditing and taxation is advantageous.
