Job Description

Butcher

We’re looking for a skilled Butcher to be part of our butchery team, ensuring high-quality meat production while maintaining our standards of safety and efficiency.


Main Accountabilities:Meat Preparation and Processing:


  • Ensure meat products meet portion control and quality standards.
  • Perform accurate cutting, trimming, and portioning to minimise waste.
  • Contribute to maintaining a low rate of defects and minimal customer complaints about product quality.

Inventory and Stock Management:


  • Properly label, store, and rotate meat products to maintain optimal freshness.
  • Keep accurate stock records and ensure stock levels meet daily production needs.
  • Work to achieve yield targets by maximising usable product from each carcass or cut.

Team Collaboration and Development:


  • Actively engage in training sessions and apply learnings in daily tasks.
  • Support overall team productivity and performance improvement efforts.
  • Provide input on workflow improvements and collaborate effectively with team members.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:


  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the butchery area.
  • Adhere to HACCP guidelines and participate in routine audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment that meets food safety standards.

Process Improvement:


  • Identify and suggest minor process improvements to enhance efficiency or reduce costs.
  • Implement approved changes to improve workflow or product quality.

Competencies:Butchery Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in cutting, trimming, and portioning to meet established quality standards.
  • Ability to maintain consistent portion sizes and minimise waste.

Organisational Skills:


  • Efficient stock handling, labelling, and rotation to support production targets and maintain freshness.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively during busy production hours.

Team Player:


  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.

Customer Focus:


  • Commitment to delivering high-quality meat products that meet customer expectations.
  • Handle feedback constructively, focusing on product quality and consistency.
