We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Backstage Manager to join our team for upcoming fashion shows.
The Backstage Wardrobe Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth coordination and execution of all backstage activities, including the management of fashion designers, models, and support staff.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Coordination and Management: ▪ Serve as the main point of contact between designers, models, hair and makeup teams and other
backstage personnel. ▪ Coordinate designers’ and models’ schedules, ensuring that everyone is prepared for their designated time slots. ▪ Oversee the fitting schedules and ensure all garments are prepared for runway presentation. ▪ Manage backstage movement, including the timely transition of models from hair/makeup to dressing areas and runway. Logistics and Organisation: ▪ Ensure that all garments and accessories are properly labelled, organised and handled carefully.
▪ Supervise the organisation of dressing areas, ensuring they are kept tidy, efficient and conducive to quick changes. ▪ Monitor the setup and management of backstage equipment, ensuring all Fashion Designer support equipment is functioning properly. Communication and Collaboration: ▪ Work closely with the Backstage Wardrobe Director to ensure all backstage operations align with
the overall show plan. ▪ Facilitate effective communication between the creative teams (designers, stylists, makeup artists, etc) and the technical staff. ▪ Address and solve any issues that arise backstage, acting swiftly to maintain the flow of the show. Rehearsal Management: ▪ Oversee dress rehearsals, ensuring all backstage operations run smoothly and that models and
designers are familiar with their responsibilities. ▪ Coordinate timing and run-throughs, ensuring everyone is on schedule and prepared for the live event. Crisis Management: ▪ Remain calm and composed under pressure, swiftly managing any backstage emergencies, lastminute changes, or wardrobe malfunctions.
▪ Develop and implement contingency plans for unforeseen challenges during the show. Team Leadership: ▪ Supervise backstage assistants, runners and other support staff to ensure they are effectively
managing their tasks. ▪ Conduct briefings before the show to outline roles, expectations, and show timing
Requirements
Proven experience in fashion show production, especially in managing backstage operations.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with the unique demands of fashion designers and models.
Flexible, creative problem-solver with the ability to adapt to last-minute changes.
Knowledge of fashion industry standards and backstage etiquette.
Availability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, especially during show times
