Job Description
The Automotive Parts Procurement Advisor is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the procurement of used automotive parts. This role involves working closely with suppliers, spare part shop, and other automotive parts providers to ensure that high-quality used parts are acquired at competitive prices. The officer must have strong knowledge of automotive parts, be able to evaluate the condition and quality of used components and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers while ensuring compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify suppliers or salvage yards that provide used automotive parts, ensuring they meet quality and reliability standards.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
- Purchase used parts (engines, transmissions, body panels, electrical components, etc.) based on the requirements from service departments, workshops, or sales teams.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors, ensuring a reliable supply of parts.
- Ensure that all purchased parts are compatible with vehicle makes, models, and repair specifications.
- Inspect used parts for quality, usability, and condition to ensure they meet company standards and customer expectations.
- Coordinate with technical teams to verify part compatibility and ensure all parts are functional and fit for use.
- Handle returns or exchanges for defective or unsatisfactory parts, ensuring compliance with warranty or return policies.
- Manage and track the inventory of used parts, ensuring that stock levels are sufficient to meet demand without overstocking.
- Implement and maintain systems for efficient tracking, organizing, and storing used parts inventory.
- Monitor and control procurement costs to stay within the allocated budget.
- Ensure cost-effective purchasing practices without compromising on quality.
- Track market trends to assess pricing changes and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Develop and maintain long-term, professional relationships with automotive parts suppliers, junkyards, dismantlers, and other vendors.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers or sources of used parts that can offer better pricing or quality.
- Maintain accurate records of all used parts purchased, including invoices, receipts, supplier details, and quality inspection reports.
- Generate procurement reports for management, detailing inventory levels, order status, and supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations regarding the purchase and use of second-hand automotive parts.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in sourcing, purchasing, or managing automotive parts, particularly used or second-hand parts.
- Strong understanding of automotive parts, systems, and repair processes, including the ability to identify and evaluate used parts.
- Ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to secure the best deals.
- Ability to inspect and evaluate the condition of used parts to ensure they meet quality standards
