Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Air Conditioning Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, maintaining, and repairing automotive air conditioning systems. This position requires a strong understanding of HVAC systems, refrigerants, and diagnostic equipment to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Design and develop automotive air conditioning systems for various vehicle models.
Optimize the performance of A/C systems to meet safety and environmental standards. Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate A/C systems with other vehicle systems.
- Installation & Maintenance: Oversee the installation of air conditioning units in vehicles, ensuring proper placement and integration. Conduct regular maintenance checks, including refrigerant charging, compressor checks, and thermostat calibration. Replace or repair components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and fans. Ensure systems operate at peak efficiency, preventing system failures and reducing energy consumption.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools to identify problems with automotive air conditioning systems. Perform leak detection and resolve issues related to refrigerant levels, pressure, and airflow.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in air conditioning systems, using a range of testing equipment.
- Customer Service & Support: Communicate with customers to understand their A/C needs and provide appropriate solutions. Advise on system upgrades, energy-saving techniques, and the benefits of regular maintenance. Provide technical support to the service team and assist in training junior engineers.
- Research & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in automotive air conditioning technology and regulations. Contribute to research on eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient systems.
Work with the R&D team to innovate new solutions for vehicle climate control systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience working with automotive air conditioning systems (2+ years preferred).
- Familiarity with air conditioning system components, diagnostics, and repair tools.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles and refrigerant types
- Knowledge of automotive HVAC control systems and electronic diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Certification in HVAC or relevant automotive training (e.g., ASE certification) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including working under vehicles or in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools as required.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to safety protocols.
