Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance & Management:
- Ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and serviced on time.
- Coordinate regular inspections, repairs, and replacement of vehicles when necessary.
- Monitor fleet performance, fuel efficiency, and ensure vehicles meet safety and environmental standards.
Route Optimization:
- Implement technology or processes to optimize vehicle routing for fuel efficiency, delivery times, and cost reduction.
- Use GPS tracking and other tools to monitor fleet locations and performance in real-time.
Driver Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Manage driver schedules and ensure adequate staffing to meet operational needs.
- Monitor driver performance and safety records, addressing any issues proactively.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal laws (e.g., licenses, insurance, emissions standards).
- Maintain proper documentation and reporting for fleet safety, inspections, and incidents.
Budget & Cost Control:
- Oversee fleet-related expenditures such as fuel, repairs, insurance, and leasing costs.
- Work to reduce operational costs by negotiating with vendors and implementing cost-effective strategies.
Fleet Technology Implementation:
- Implement and manage fleet management software to streamline processes, improve reporting, and enhance fleet efficiency.
- Use telematics, GPS, and other tools to improve vehicle tracking, driver behavior monitoring, and route planning.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management:
- Manage spare parts and inventory to ensure timely vehicle repairs and minimize downtime.
- Work with suppliers for vehicle procurement, parts, and maintenance services.
Health & Safety Management:
- Enforce safety protocols for drivers and vehicles.
- Conduct regular safety audits, training, and incident reporting.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, operational costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Use data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement in fleet operations.
Customer Service:
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods or services.
- Address customer complaints or service issues related to fleet operations.
