About the School of Engineering and the role: The School of Engineering offers various Bachelor of Engineering programs including the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Computer and Autonomous Systems Engineering. In this program, students delve into electrical engineering, software design, hardware-software integration, and autonomous robotic systems.
The program aims to enable students to acquire specialist expertise in:
(1) Computer architecture and software design, combining hardware and software solutions to solve practical problems,
(2) Artificial intelligence algorithms to build autonomous robotic systems.
The School of Engineering is seeking applications from experienced academics at the Associate Professor level in the field of Computer Engineering with the primary purpose of driving innovation and excellence in both teaching and research. This role includes vital contributions to governance and service activities, directly supporting and advancing the school's mission.
As an Associate Professor, you will have a significant opportunity to impact the areas of research, teaching, and community and industry engagement, all within a collaborative and supportive academic environment. You will collaborate closely with the Head of the School of Engineering as well as the Disciplinary Lead for the Computer Engineering program to cultivate a supportive and vibrant learning community, ensuring that our students receive exceptional educational experiences and support. This position provides a platform to influence the future of robotics, autonomous and high-performance computing.
The candidate is expected to contribute primarily to the research areas and teaching of specialisation subjects in Robotics and Autonomous Systems, as well as Real-time Systems, Embedded Systems, and High-Performance Computing. The Computer Engineering team in the School of Engineering are also to contribute to the delivery of common foundational subjects in Programming for Engineers, Engineering Computing and Analysis, Circuits and Systems as well as Electronics.

Requirements & Responsibilities:
Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops.
Develop and produce teaching materials, including technology-enhanced learning .
Design innovative lab and project activities.
Handle administrative tasks related to teaching, such as student consultations, marking, assessment, and quality assurance.
Conduct and publish research; seek research funding.
Supervise students’ capstone projects and contribute to reviews and continuous improvement of the discipline.
Engage with industry and academic colleagues for collaborative research.
Assist with student services, including recruitment, registration, onboarding, and support.
Comply with all relevant UOWD policies and guidelines.
Maintain balanced performance across academic responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience:
PhD. Degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline from a reputed and recognised international institution
Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, preferably in Computer Engineering
Well-established teaching experience of at least 6 years post PhD in at least two or more of the specialised subjects -

Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Real-time Systems, Embedded Systems, and High-Performance Computing


Experience in supervising of students’ capstone projects and research
Active research record in the field of Computer Engineering with relevant research output in recognised international journals as well as evidence of research leadership, n and successful acquisition of research funding
Fluency in English language (both spoken and written)
