About the job Assistant Manager - Trade & Pricing
We are hiring a motivated and proactive team player to join our client's organization as the Senior Executive, Trade.
The ideal candidate should possess sound revenue and business acumen, basic shipping knowledge and the ability to work independently while also collaborating with others. He or She should be able to influence without authority, be decisive in execution, and take calculated risks where needed.
We are looking for resilient individuals able to persist and adapt, perform under higher pressure, while continuously seeking improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to Capacity and Agency teams on commercial strategy and direction.
- Build model ships to optimize profitability and strategic goals and ensure period reviews are conducted on same.
- Establish pricing strategies and take pricing positions to maximize lifting, revenue, and profitability.
- Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to determine optimal pricing to achieve business goals.
- Work with overseas agents, manage the daily pricing activities and resolve any operational issues from a commercial perspective.
- Monitor service performance and analyze vessel profile to improve cargo mix for optimal results.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to service operations, including market volatility, regulatory changes, and geopolitical events
- Collect and optimize input data for pricing models, monitor pricing trends, and conduct pricing analyses and modeling to inform pricing decisions.
- Work with the operations teams to ensure the right cost structure and competitiveness for the trade
- Support feasibility service studies, and actively participate in business development initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Min. 10 years experience in the shipping industry ideally having been in roles in capacity/cargo flow, commercial and/or trade.
- A strong collaborator who can drive information sharing and a change mindset across our own agencies and partners.
- Enjoys problem solving and the unpredictable challenges in shipping ranging from COVID related disruptions to Red Sea crises.
- Data savvy loves to work with numbers and can use them to tell a story; experience with databases, data visualization tools, programming or similar are a plus!
