The project:
Mace is providing project management services on a large mixed-use regeneration development in Abu Dhabi. The site will have commercial workplaces and retail units along with public realm.
The dry utilities design engineer is responsible for managing the design and delivery of the dry utilities for the infrastructure works at MiZa, Abu Dhabi. This role requires technical expertise in MV/LV, Telecoms, GSM, ICT, GHQ and gas networks as well as project management skills.

- You will deliver and manage project plans from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
- You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of senior project managers and other leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.

- Ensure all designs comply with authority requirements, codes and standards.
- Coordinate with all stakeholders including, client, contractor and design teams to integrate the dry utility systems into the overall project design.
- Ensure that key considerations are understood for the end-to end delivery of the dry utilities design, including budgeting, scheduling and quality control.
- Detailed review of project drawings, design reports and technical specifications.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
- Perform site inspections to verify construction activities align with design specifications.
- Provide technical support during the construction and testing and commissioning phases.
- Manage the testing and commissioning works to ensure all activities align with overall construction activities including authority inspections.
- Liase with all stakeholders to ensure all issues are closed as a priority.
- Manage the MEP related RFI’s process and respond as required.
- Manage the MEP related MIR process.
- Manage the MEP mock-up process and inspections.
- Mange the MEP long lead items design and procurement process.
- Chair MEP progress meetings with the infrastructure contractor.
- Work collaboratively with the infrastructure contractor and his design team to resolve any key issues.
- Assist the commercial department with any technical query/claim raised by the contractor.
- Assist and review any programme milestone dates.
- Manage and review all contractor wet utility submissions for design validation to shop drawings and as-builts.
- Support MEP constructability review ensuring the D&B Contractors MEP design aligns with the employer’s requirements and design intent and so preserve the owner’s vision.
- Check for the completeness, errors, omissions from the D&B contractors as part of their deliverables.
- Detailed review of the MEP procurement process.
- Input into logistical planning.
- Provide input into the procurement strategy and overall master programme.
- Input into the value engineering process.
- Manage information flow between all stakeholders.
- Consult with all project stakeholders.
- Review and consider end user strategy deliverables.
- Coordinate and drive the resolution of any MEP problem issues.
- Provide technical knowledge in the review of the MEP tender bids.
- Attend client meetings.
- Attend commercial meetings.
- Attend site inspections as necessary.
- Ensure designs take account of site conditions including the existing tenants and public.
- Ensure that the infrastructure design takes includes the existing tie-in connection points to existing buildings for all services and that any disruption to supply is kept to a minimum.
- Manage with the contractor any requirements for temporary utility supplies to existing buildings.
- Mange the factory acceptance (FAT) process.
- Input into weekly and monthly reports.
- Ensure any provision for future connection onto the facility maintenance centre (FMC) are provided, eg: within the link parks, storm water and irrigation plantrooms.

You’ll need to have:
- Experience working in the United Arab Emirates is essential for client approval.
- Working knowledge of the construction and consultancy industries.
- Working knowledge of building safety legislation, building standards, construction contracts, professional appointments and health & safety legislation.
You’ll also need:
- Abu Dhabi experience, landscape experience, Arabic speaker preferred.
- Good communication, organizational, presentation skills with excellent writing ability.
- Strong BIM literacy and IT skills.
- Ability to work flexibly.
- Ability to use initiative and make appropriate decision.
