Area Manager – Travel Retail (Wine and Spirits)


Purpose of the Role:


The company offers a diverse portfolio of products in the spirits, wine, and beer categories, featuring over 400 brands and 3,000 SKUs. The Duty-Free Sales & Marketing Manager plays a critical role in driving brand visibility, volume growth, and profitability across Retail, On-Trade, and RTM markets. This role is central to achieving customer satisfaction and exceeding market share objectives by managing daily operations for Duty-Free customers, fostering customer relationships, and executing tailored trade marketing and sales strategies.


The position focuses on maximizing product listings and sales in Duty-Free outlets, optimizing stock levels, and delivering exceptional customer service. With the growth of the Travel Retail business, this role has evolved to meet the increasing demands of sales turnover, profitability, and portfolio expansion.


Key Responsibilities:


Sales Development:


  • Expand product listings for priority brands in Duty-Free outlets.
  • Maximize product visibility and secure prime shelf/floor space.
  • Collaborate with Duty-Free purchasing teams and shop managers to optimize order volumes.
  • Drive sales of priority brands and ensure adequate distribution to support profitability targets.
  • Analyze Duty-Free segments and implement targeted sales strategies.
  • Introduce new product launches, ensuring timely communication and maximizing listings.
  • Review customer orders and guide SOP teams to maximize sales through replacements and backorder recovery.

Customer Relationship Management:


  • Conduct regular visits to customers, engaging with key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Resolve issues related to products and pricing, ensuring a balance between client satisfaction and company profitability.
  • Collaborate with travel retail customers to enhance brand visibility and sales.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and organizational guidelines in all sales activities.
  • Align with team objectives to support broader organizational goals.

Marketing & Merchandising Implementation:


  • Execute promotional and marketing plans to enhance brand visibility and equity.
  • Audit outlets to ensure adherence to agreed merchandising levels.
  • Collaborate with outlets to maximize the use of merchandising materials.
  • Collect market intelligence on promotions, sales trends, and new listings, providing monthly feedback and reports.
